Pharmacology is the science of how drugs act on biological systems and how the body responds to them. The study of pharmacology encompasses the sources, chemical properties, biological effects and therapeutic uses of drugs. This expert-led course provides an overview of pharmacology broken down into five sections. The first four sections cover cytotoxic therapies, overviewing DNA-damaging agents, microtubule toxins, and antimetabolites. The fifth section focuses on drug interactions in oncology and their importance in patient care.

At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1) Describe the mechanistic action of different DNA-damaging agents and apply knowledge of DNA-damaging agents to anticipate side effects and learn common toxicities

2) Describe the mechanistic action of different microtubule toxins and antimetabolites and apply knowledge of microtubule toxins and antimetabolites to anticipate side effects and learn common toxicities

3) Briefly describe pathways of drug-drug interactions in oncology.
