This is a case-based activity that includes discussion of a 60-year-old male smoker with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity who presents to his primary care physician with three days of painless gross hematuria. He has no known drug allergies and current medications include aspirin, hydrochlorothiazide, and atorvastatin. He has no known family history of cancer and consumes 1 drink per day. Physical examination is normal/unremarkable. Work up includes referral to urology for cystoscopy, hematuria-protocol CT to evaluate bladder mass, nodes, and upper tracts as well as urine cytology.

At the end of this course, users should be able to:

•             Describe the primary treatment options for localized, muscle-invasive bladder cancer

•             Explain the selection criteria for successful bladder preservation as an alternative to radical cystectomy

•             Discuss the impact of treatment on patient quality of life

•             Collaborate across different specialties and with all members of the oncology care team to provide effective and patient-centered treatment and supportive care

IMPORTANT NOTE: This course expires on February 22, 2020. Participants must complete all necessary course components by this date.
