This course provides a background in biologic therapies and their increasing role in cancer treatment. Biologic agents, the cancer types they are approved for use in, their mechanisms of action, and potential side effects are all discussed throughout the sections of the course.

Led by expert faculty, this course is broken down into four sections – 1) Principles of Biologic Therapy; 2) Biologic Agents; 3) Antibodies as Cancer Treatment; and 4) Case Studies. The Case Studies section follows three patients being treated with biologic cancer therapies.

After participation in this course, learners will be better able to:Recognize the roles of biologic therapies in cancer treatment and supportive care;
  • Differentiate biologics from other forms of cancer therapy;
  • Classify biologics based on mechanism of action; and
  • Apply this knowledge to management of patients treated with biological cancer therapies.
